Saw two of the most beautiful people on the planet on TV today. Reggie Bibbs (left) and Maurice Simpson share a common condition, one that most of us might have a difficult time dealing with, but which these two find a profound strength in: Neurofibromatosis, or NF for short. It is a genetic disorder of the nervous system which causes tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in the body at any time.
Watching the documentary on Maurice, I was deeply moved by his determination to live a normal life. He goes on regular visits to the gym in order to better care for his health, whereas most guys go for vanity’s sake. Blessed with a supportive wife and four wonderful kids, he is no less than happy.
Meanwhile, Reggie is acting as an advocate for people with the disorder. He founded the Just Ask! Foundation for people with Neurofibromatosis and hopes to increase awareness of NF. To learn more about Reggie’s story, click on the picture. Take a little time to read, you will be just as touched as I was.
